Our Assistance League chapter is celebrating its 20th year of assisting children and adults in Minneapolis and St. Paul! It all began in 1996 with the introduction of our Assault Survivor Kits Program, providing support for women who had been sexually assaulted. Since then we’ve added school uniform distribution, literacy programs, a food backpack program, and more. These philanthropic programs have been life-changing to many people in our community.
Our Thrift Shop opened in 2000 to provide financial support to our programs and since then has become is a favorite shop for people all over the world. Just a few weeks ago a woman from Copenhagen, Denmark was shopping for household items to take home in her luggage!
This year is a special year for us as members and we will be celebrating by knowing that we’ve had a big impact on many people in Minneapolis and St. Paul. As our chapter continues to grow, we’ll be able to help more than ever and that makes us happy!
