Gift Acceptance Policy

Revised April 3, 2014

This document sets forth the policy that Assistance League of Minneapolis/St. Paul shall adhere to with respect to the steps to be followed for accepting gifts for the organization.

General Statements

Any individual, corporation or business may make a contribution to the chapter.  Donations may be monetary or in-kind.  Gifts in-kind are non-cash donations such as:  donated services from professionals, donated facilities and utilities, items donated for use at a fundraising event, equipment, land, buildings, etc. for use by the chapter, inventory and materials to be used for philanthropic programs.   Goods/merchandise donated to the thrift shop for future sale are not included in this policy.

All gifts not readily convertible to cash and gifts restricted to a purpose outside our normal programs will be first reviewed by the Gift Development and Review committee before acceptance by the chapter.

We appreciate all considerations of a gift to Assistance League® of Minneapolis/St. Paul.  Please contact our Vice President Resource Development,, for assistance in planning and completing your gift.

This policy serves as a guideline for the ALMSP membership, outside advisors who assist in the gift planning process, and prospective donors who wish to make restricted or unrestricted gifts to ALMSP.

ALMSP actively solicits and accepts donations that are consistent with its mission and that support its programs and projects.  ALMSP reserves the right to refuse a donation if it is determined to be outside of the organization’s mission or deemed unreasonable to administer.

Donors should be aware that while items may be accepted for use, our needs sometimes change.  Therefore ALMSP reserves the right to sell, donate to another philanthropic organization, recycle or dispose of, or return the gift to the donor.
