As we celebrate our 20th Anniversary in 2015-2016, we hold our Assault Survivor Kits® program dear to our hearts. It was our chapter’s very first program! Our founders wanted to serve people in our community who weren’t being helped by other organizations. We learned 20 years ago that sexual assault survivors needed clothing and toiletries after their visits to the hospital. Their clothes worn to the hospital were needed as evidence so they had nothing but a hospital gown to wear home. This year on May 8th, 23 of our members met at the MN Hospital Association to continue this wonderful program of packing clothing and toiletry kits for sexual assault survivors in Minnesota. Our partnership with the MN Hospital Association was formed soon after our program started 20 years ago because we needed a way to distribute the kits to Emergency Rooms. About 127 hospital Emergency Rooms receive kits with the help of MHA.

All of us in Assistance League receive much more than we give, especially knowing we’re helping a survivor go home from the hospital with some dignity.
