Our mission is to aid those in need through hands-on philanthropic projects.

Our vision is to enrich the lives of children and adults we touch throughout the state of Minnesota.

About Us

Assistance League of Minneapolis/St. Paul is a chapter of National Assistance League®.  We help people remove obstacles in their lives by addressing unmet needs of the community.  Be it a child who receives one-on-one reading help, the immediate clothing needs of a sexual assault victim whose own clothes were taken into custody as evidence, or the uniform needs of school children, all of these people are served by Assistance League.

Assistance League is a nonprofit organization of volunteers who are committed to identifying unmet needs and addressing them through programs developed and administered by our members.  About 150 members work year round to fund and serve our nine programs.

The Twin Cities chapter began in 1992; there are more than 115 Assistance League chapters nationwide.  Each chapter operates the Operation School Bell® program as well as additional programs that address local community needs.  Together these programs serve children and adults to:

  • increase their skills

  • decrease financial hardships, or

  • strengthen self-esteem

and enrich the lives of those they touch.

The chapter's primary fundraiser is the Assistance League Thrift Shop, located in Richfield. Additional funds come from an Open Your Heart direct mail campaign, grants and individual donations. All funds raised remain in our community.
